Important Dates


Writ day (start of election period): August 7/13. The election period can begin with the issue of the writ between 28 and 34 days before election day.

Revision begins: August 12 or 19, depending on writ day. Returning officers and registration agents operate from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm, Sunday noon to 6:00 pm.

Revision ends: August 22. The revised voters list is available 18 days before election day. Returning offices remain open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm.

Close of nominations: August 26. Signed nomination papers must be submitted to the returning officer before 1:00 p.m. or they will not be accepted.

Advance voting: August 29 to September 5. Most advance voting locations are open from 8:00 am to 8:00 pm (noon to 6:00 pm Sunday). Not all advance voting stations are open on all days.

Last day to apply for absentee voting: September 7. Returning officers can accept applications until 8:00 pm.

Last day to apply for homebound voting: September 9. Returning officers can accept applications until 8:00 pm.

Election day: September 10. Voting places are open from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Campaign period: From writ day to November 12.

Candidacy period: From the date a person becomes a candidate until November 12.

Deadline for financial statements: January 10. Both candidates and registered parties must file election financial statements with Elections Manitoba.

Note: Important dates that fall on a holiday (Sunday, for example) may be changed to the next working day.
